Softwares For Developing Your Own Ring Tone

Mobile phone ring tones are the latest trend setters on the block. Considering the limited abilities of other creative trendsetters such as slogan t – shirts, bandanas, bright shoes, and assorted finger rings to name a few on the long list; mobile phone ring tones have made their presence felt loudly. They have, over a period of time, self assumed the responsibility of becoming vocalized style statements by announcing every time to the crowd of people within their vicinity , the personality of its owner. Mobile phone ring tones are all about the user and interestingly they are not as much for the user as they are for others. This once upon a time fad, has grown larger in proportion and fan following than most of the trends because of an extremely image conscious group such as that of youngsters for whom it has become a part of their persona. And therefore, what one wears has become so important. And of course, not even the most boldly emblazoned t – shirt can be as loud as an unusual mobile phone ring tone.

With the way this industry has grown in leaps and bounds, it is only naturally supporting several other industries. Right from the entertainment industry, the marketing industry, to professional software creation and development industry. The tentacles of its influence are far reaching. Of the myriad big and small industries that have come under its cloud, the ring tone development software industry has continuously been undergoing evolutions. And rightfully so, with the mobile phone ring tones themselves having come a long way from monotones to polyphonic ring tones and the more snazzier MP3, WAV, et al versions.

Scores of websites offer services for personalized mobile phone ring tone creation and editing with special effects. All at just the click of a button. Whilst, the basic procedures are common for uploading the file, opening it into the software that is already pre – downloaded on to the system, working with the length and special effects before converting it into a compatible format for the mobile phone; every website offers some premiums just to be one up on their competition. Create – Ringtone, although primarily is a software for developing personalized ring tones, offers other services such as wallpapers, designs, access to MP3 files, free sharing of files between mobile phones, et al. However, this software itself comes with a price tag, just like its counterparts. The softwares need to be downloaded on to the system and the average file size is 2 MB. Other popular softwares used for creation of ring tones are Make Your Own (MYO) Ringtones, MAGIX Ringtone Maker, Convert to RingTone Wizard, The Ringtone Maker, DJ ToneXpress, Kylix Ringtone Maker, Ringtone Media Studio, 1.0 Ring Tone Maker Factory, and Polyphonic Ringtone Wizard to name a few. All these softwares are prices anywhere between USD 10 to USD 30, with an initial free trial offer for a few days before purchasing the product itself.

It has been reported that these softwares can work with files of almost all the popular formats such as MP3, WAV, WMA, and OGG files which can then be worked upon creatively and further converted to a desired format. These softwares allow for creation of ring tones from personal sources such as children’s voices, random screaming or messages, live musical performances, or just the natural environment.Article Source: http://www.webmastertips.us/story

Ringtone Etiquette

Ever noticed how at a busy, dull, board meeting a particular gentleman keeps coughing at regular intervals and his hand covers his mouth only a few seconds after he has ‘coughed’. And you couldn’t help wondering how sick he really was to be doing something so unhygienic? Well, the next time you witness such ill – timed ‘action to sound’ occurrences, you might want to re – think the entire situation. A closer look and you will know when he looks towards his phone, that the ‘cough’ was actually his mobile phone ring tone! Talk about ingenuity!

Mobile phone ring tones have come a long way from the standard beeps, ringing tones, the famous Nokia ring tone, to slightly pleasant sounding monotones; which were easily forgotten with the invasion of polyphonic ringtones. And now with the way this industry is burgeoning, ring tones have become a force to reckon with: videotones, ring back tones, sing tones, the list is endless.

With so much already having been written and said about the way this industry is growing, it’s not surprising to hear talks of taming it down. It’s true. Ring tone etiquette is been taken seriously and people are being expected to brush up on their social behaviour in public places. Extremely loud and annoying ring tones often invite scowls from co – passengers on board trains and/or buses. More often than not, a couple of the annoyed co – passengers would think, “He blew up money over that?”. The modern day definition of a ring tone, is something that clearly sets one apart from the masses ;and spares him/her the embarrassment of jumping every time a phone with a similar ring tone rings in close vicinity. Yet, the fact that individuals, in their attempt to stand out in the crowd, opt for ring tones that are extremely unpleasant and distasteful for a public environment, cannot be disregarded simply on the grounds of freedom of expression. Researchers have identified such behaviour as being incongruent with social norms.

There have been reports of a particular behaviour in public places which has managed to successfully infuriate the majority of those subjected to it. It has been observed that no sooner has an individual purchased a new phone, or probably even due to lack of any constructive activity, than the individual attempts to go through each and every ring tone available on his/her mobile phone. And quite understandably this urge happens in public places and/ or long journeys that must be endured listening to what may seem like at that time, the world’s most irritating variety of mobile phone ring tones. One of the foremost rules of ring tone etiquette, according to experts, undoubtedly is that fact that ring tones must be played out and tried only in the privacy of one’s home.

Recent reports have also highlighted trends within this industry that attempt to evade the etiquette rule book. ‘Coughing’ and ‘sneezing’ ring tones at meetings allow one to slip away easily without being too conspicuous. Some of the other popular ones have been borrowed from the environment. Natural sounds such as those of birds twittering, leaves swaying, and bees buzzing, only make it that much easier to alert the user of an incoming call or message, without actually attracting any unwanted attention.

Although it’s being persistently argued by ardent mobile phone ring tone fans, that ring tones are a personal choice that allow an individual to make a style statement; one cannot disregard the fact that style statement’s cannot be made at the cost of another individual’s comfort.Article Source: http://www.webmastertips.us/story

Custom, homemade ringtones on iPhone v1.1.2

iTunes brings homemade ringtones with iPhone v1.1.2Well, well, well. What do we have here? Apple’s newest, recently released, iPhone firmware seems to have an enticing trick up its sleeve. It seems that the iPhone v1.1.2 firmware allows custom, homemade ringtones to be uploaded to the iPhone.

We said that we’d swear off the iPhone v1.1.2 update unless Apple offered some truly enticing features. And, we’re not all that impressed with a little ringtone-making mojo (especially if we have to sacrifice our third-party apps) - but some of you might be. Once the iPhone v1.1.2 firmware gets the jailbreak treatment, we’ll be on board. Until then, it’s up to you if you wanna update.

In case you forgot. The trick to home-brewing your iPhone ringtones is to make a 30-40 second .m4a audio clip and then just rename it as a .m4r file. Double-clicking the .m4r file will automatically sync it with iTunes and make be available for your next iPhone sync.

Update: We should note that  iTunes 7.5 is also required to get home-brew ringtones to sync up with your iPhone.

iTunes 7.4.1 ringtones re-rename workaround discovered

So last night iTunes 7.4.1 came out which, among other things, blocked off the custom ringtone renaming method, which allowed users to add their own ringtones to their iPhone without buying them on iTunes. Well, as posters in our own comments have already discovered, it’s back, and here’s how to do it:

First, follow the steps of the original method

  • Create your ringtone, save it as an AAC file.
  • Rename the m4a extension to m4r.
  • Double-click to play in iTunes.

Now, if you’re upgraded to 7.4.1

  • Go back and re-rename that m4r file back to m4a. That’s it.
  • Plug in your iPhone and that ringtone will be added to your syncable ringtones list — and it won’t pop up the error from before.
  • Play your ringtones constantly for the next 10 hours until 7.4.2 comes out.
