Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 delayed to Q1 2009?

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 delayed to Q1 2009?We can hardly confirm anything — Sony Ericsson is naturally quite about rumors — but Semcblog posted some very interesting information from the official Sony Ericsson website. Apparently, the Swedish-Japanese handset maker will take more time than originally envisioned to release the XPERIA X1 smartphone. According to the mentioned blog, we’ll have to wait for the first quarter of next year in order to buy the XPERIA X1. And while we’re kinda sad to learn this — even though this is everything bu the official information — I would remind you we’ve waited for quite some time to see the P990i released. I don’t mind waiting bit more as long as the final product provides me with great out-of-box experience. If you remember, initially the Sony Ericsson P990i had a number of stability issues which even made some people stop buying SE phones.

In the other news, the same source says R300 will start selling on September 29, while the R306 will be released on June 21st.

ZiPhone 2.5 brings simple jailbreak / unlock GUI tool to Apple iPhone v1.1.4 - Mac and Windows!

ZiPhone 2.5 jailbreak and unlock for iPhone v1.1.4Let’s give it up for Zibri! Just days after iNdependence beat him to the punch with a simple-to-use, iPhone v1.1.4 compatible, GUI interface to jailbreak, unlock, and activate the iPhone’s newest v1.1.4 firmware, Zibri has announced that the other jailbreak GUI-offering has been updated to work with the iPhone v1.1.4. As expected, ZiPhone 2.5 is an update to the ZiPhone 2.4 jailbreak tool for iPhones running the previous v1.1.3 firmware.

ZiPhone 2.5 works just like ZiPhone 2.4 - which is to say that it’ll jailbreak, unlock, and even activate your iPhone v1.1.4, regardless of when you bought it (Bootloader versions 3.9 and 4.6 are good to go). And, while iNdependence is a Mac-only solution (for now), ZiPhone 2.5 does its magic on both Windows and Mac machines!

Softwares For Developing Your Own Ring Tone

Mobile phone ring tones are the latest trend setters on the block. Considering the limited abilities of other creative trendsetters such as slogan t – shirts, bandanas, bright shoes, and assorted finger rings to name a few on the long list; mobile phone ring tones have made their presence felt loudly. They have, over a period of time, self assumed the responsibility of becoming vocalized style statements by announcing every time to the crowd of people within their vicinity , the personality of its owner. Mobile phone ring tones are all about the user and interestingly they are not as much for the user as they are for others. This once upon a time fad, has grown larger in proportion and fan following than most of the trends because of an extremely image conscious group such as that of youngsters for whom it has become a part of their persona. And therefore, what one wears has become so important. And of course, not even the most boldly emblazoned t – shirt can be as loud as an unusual mobile phone ring tone.

With the way this industry has grown in leaps and bounds, it is only naturally supporting several other industries. Right from the entertainment industry, the marketing industry, to professional software creation and development industry. The tentacles of its influence are far reaching. Of the myriad big and small industries that have come under its cloud, the ring tone development software industry has continuously been undergoing evolutions. And rightfully so, with the mobile phone ring tones themselves having come a long way from monotones to polyphonic ring tones and the more snazzier MP3, WAV, et al versions.

Scores of websites offer services for personalized mobile phone ring tone creation and editing with special effects. All at just the click of a button. Whilst, the basic procedures are common for uploading the file, opening it into the software that is already pre – downloaded on to the system, working with the length and special effects before converting it into a compatible format for the mobile phone; every website offers some premiums just to be one up on their competition. Create – Ringtone, although primarily is a software for developing personalized ring tones, offers other services such as wallpapers, designs, access to MP3 files, free sharing of files between mobile phones, et al. However, this software itself comes with a price tag, just like its counterparts. The softwares need to be downloaded on to the system and the average file size is 2 MB. Other popular softwares used for creation of ring tones are Make Your Own (MYO) Ringtones, MAGIX Ringtone Maker, Convert to RingTone Wizard, The Ringtone Maker, DJ ToneXpress, Kylix Ringtone Maker, Ringtone Media Studio, 1.0 Ring Tone Maker Factory, and Polyphonic Ringtone Wizard to name a few. All these softwares are prices anywhere between USD 10 to USD 30, with an initial free trial offer for a few days before purchasing the product itself.

It has been reported that these softwares can work with files of almost all the popular formats such as MP3, WAV, WMA, and OGG files which can then be worked upon creatively and further converted to a desired format. These softwares allow for creation of ring tones from personal sources such as children’s voices, random screaming or messages, live musical performances, or just the natural environment.Article Source: http://www.webmastertips.us/story

Ringtone Etiquette

Ever noticed how at a busy, dull, board meeting a particular gentleman keeps coughing at regular intervals and his hand covers his mouth only a few seconds after he has ‘coughed’. And you couldn’t help wondering how sick he really was to be doing something so unhygienic? Well, the next time you witness such ill – timed ‘action to sound’ occurrences, you might want to re – think the entire situation. A closer look and you will know when he looks towards his phone, that the ‘cough’ was actually his mobile phone ring tone! Talk about ingenuity!

Mobile phone ring tones have come a long way from the standard beeps, ringing tones, the famous Nokia ring tone, to slightly pleasant sounding monotones; which were easily forgotten with the invasion of polyphonic ringtones. And now with the way this industry is burgeoning, ring tones have become a force to reckon with: videotones, ring back tones, sing tones, the list is endless.

With so much already having been written and said about the way this industry is growing, it’s not surprising to hear talks of taming it down. It’s true. Ring tone etiquette is been taken seriously and people are being expected to brush up on their social behaviour in public places. Extremely loud and annoying ring tones often invite scowls from co – passengers on board trains and/or buses. More often than not, a couple of the annoyed co – passengers would think, “He blew up money over that?”. The modern day definition of a ring tone, is something that clearly sets one apart from the masses ;and spares him/her the embarrassment of jumping every time a phone with a similar ring tone rings in close vicinity. Yet, the fact that individuals, in their attempt to stand out in the crowd, opt for ring tones that are extremely unpleasant and distasteful for a public environment, cannot be disregarded simply on the grounds of freedom of expression. Researchers have identified such behaviour as being incongruent with social norms.

There have been reports of a particular behaviour in public places which has managed to successfully infuriate the majority of those subjected to it. It has been observed that no sooner has an individual purchased a new phone, or probably even due to lack of any constructive activity, than the individual attempts to go through each and every ring tone available on his/her mobile phone. And quite understandably this urge happens in public places and/ or long journeys that must be endured listening to what may seem like at that time, the world’s most irritating variety of mobile phone ring tones. One of the foremost rules of ring tone etiquette, according to experts, undoubtedly is that fact that ring tones must be played out and tried only in the privacy of one’s home.

Recent reports have also highlighted trends within this industry that attempt to evade the etiquette rule book. ‘Coughing’ and ‘sneezing’ ring tones at meetings allow one to slip away easily without being too conspicuous. Some of the other popular ones have been borrowed from the environment. Natural sounds such as those of birds twittering, leaves swaying, and bees buzzing, only make it that much easier to alert the user of an incoming call or message, without actually attracting any unwanted attention.

Although it’s being persistently argued by ardent mobile phone ring tone fans, that ring tones are a personal choice that allow an individual to make a style statement; one cannot disregard the fact that style statement’s cannot be made at the cost of another individual’s comfort.Article Source: http://www.webmastertips.us/story

Cell Phones - Cell phone GPS

Cell Phones

Believe it or not, cell phones have a longer history then the radio. Cell phones started off in the 1920’s and radios were first used in 1921. Some of the cell phone features were used in radios way back in the 1940’s. Police used these radios.

The idea of the cellular phone was developed in 1947 as a mobile car phone. Bell Laboratories (also known as Bell Labs and formerly known as AT&T Bell Laboratories and Bell Telephone Laboratories) produced the concept of the cellular phone by introducing cells for mobile phone base stations.

Russell Ohl developed the photovoltaic cell (a device that converts light energy into electrical energy.) In 1943, Bell developed SIGSALY (also known as the X System, Project X, Ciphony I, and the Green Hornet), the first digital scrambled speech transmission system used in World War II for the highest-level Allied communications. SIGSALY is not an acronym. It was intended to look like an acrynim but it was just a cover name. SIG was common in Army Signal Corps names. The prototype was called Green Hornet because it sounded like a buzzing hornet to anyone trying to eavesdrop on the conversation.

Motorola has a long history of making automotive radio, especially two-way radios for taxicabs and police cruisers. The first actual cell phone was invented in 1973 by Martin Cooper of Motorola and other assisting inventors. It was called the “radio telephone system.” He used the idea of the car phone and applied the technology required to make a portable cell phone a reality.

In April 3, 1973, Cooper was the first person to make a call on a portable cell phone on to the amazement of the people walking on a New York City street. That first call was made on the first Motorola DynaTAC prototype to the head of research, Joel Engel, of the AT&T Bell Lab. This caused the technology and communications market to shift away from the place and toward the person. Cooper’s vision for personal wireless communications was born.

In 1978, Bell Labs introduced the first commercial cellular network in Chicago using AMPS (Advanced Mobile Phone System). This was an analog mobile phone system. It became the primary analog mobile phone system in North America and is still widely available today, although it’s used much less since the introduction of various digital standards.

Cell phones were first made available to the public in 1984 although they were very large, expensive instruments. The Federal Communications Commission worked together with AT&T and Bell Towers to establish broadcast towers. The towers were small with little power and covered a “cell” that was actually only a few miles in radius but could cover a larger area. Towers allowed calls to transfer from tower to tower.

On a side note, today Cell phone GPS is becoming very popular worldwide.

Nokia 7900 Prism - Fortus Mobile Phone Review

A Refresh On The Phone For Fashion Craze

Almost a year ago, we wrote a review of Nokia 7500 Prism, one of Nokia’s entries into “phone as fashion statement”. Now, “phone as fashion gear” is as at least as old as the Motorola ROKR and RAZR models, but the field has gotten more complex and higher end with phones from Prada, Ferrari and Armani that cost upwards of a thousand sterling for the right to carry around a phone with gems embedded in it, or a particular brand name.

Fortunately for your pocketbook, the 7900 Prism isn’t as expensive as an Armani, but at a couple hundred, it’s still a noticeable dent on the budget. What are you getting for it? You’re mostly paying a premium for triangular buttons that are awkward and hard to use, with glossy covers that make them eye catching.

The phone has a nice, rich OLED display – it’s big enough, though we found the resolution high enough to make the text hard to read. It’s got the usual array of buttons, and while in theory, triangles wouldn’t be an issue, in practice, they’re cramped and squished together. It’s difficult to hit just one key at a time. On the other hand, it’s 11 millimeters thin, which means it slips nicely into a pocket.

In terms of features, it has the obligatory music player function and the 2 megapixel camera that every phone seems to come with these days. The menu system to get at the features is Nokia’s standard menu set up. It conspicuously lacks a microSD slot, so you’re stuck with storing your photos and music on the onboard 1 GB memory; we expect this to change, as it’s barely an upgrade from the 7500 model.

One notable change from the 7500 is the removal of the feature my daughter loved the most – the ability to change the colour of the decorative face plate by swapping out a small plastic ring. Now that she’s older, she’s less concerned about how a phone looks than how it works, but it was the feature of the 7500 she raved about the most.

That being said, the backlights on the phone’s keypad can be changed; you can assign different flash and color patterns for different incoming phone numbers. To me it seemed like a gimmick, to my daughter, it seemed cool, but in a dorky way. She could see some of her schoolmates – guys mostly – having fun setting that up.

The 2 megapixel camera isn’t the greatest camera in the world, but it’s serviceable. To be fair, I remember when we’d all be raving about 2 megapixels in a phone to begin with. It doesn’t have much in the way of optics, and only has an LED flash, but it’s more than suitable for quick snaps.

The headphone jack is a proprietary one, which is also disappointing. Sound quality on the phone as a phone is good, with no distortion. Reception quality is also good, but we’ve come to expect that from Nokia, which consistently scores well in this regard.

Overall, I confess I’m not in the demographic for this mobile, and thankfully, my daughter seems to be getting out of that demographic as well. I’d spend a fair bit less and get a phone with the same features and less fashion.Article Source: http://www.webmastertips.us/story

How To Put Movies On Your Iphone

Do you want need to learn how to put movies on your iPhone? Many iPhone owners want to take advantage of their brand new iPhones but the problem is that they don’t know how to do so and what website they should use to download movies on their iPhones. In this article you learn exactly how to do that.

As a movie buff, you have always been proud of the fact that you can name all of Stanley Kubrick’s movies in order of release and have memorized every line from every John Waters movie. Besides that you know every independent flick that has come out in the last decade. The easiest way to add to your knowledge is with an iPhone. It’s not just for talking; you can watch movies on the iPhone as well.

There are different ways to get movies onto your iPhone. But if you want to get your massive collection from your shelf into your iPhone to freshen up on Quentin Tarantino’s foot fetish, just follow these simple steps.

First you have to get software that will rip your DVDs into a different format. You will need to convert your DVD into an mp4 file because that is the format the iPhone reads for your movies. This software is easy to find. However, there are many different options out there. You can go to http://www.download.com and check what is available. Here you will find freeware, shareware and software you can buy. The site also has user reviews for most of the products and Net reviews for the more popular brands. The good thing about a lot of the programs is you can test it before buying it. The program allows you to run a trial period. This way you can find the one that is best for you. Once you have found software that is efficient and easy to use, start converting your movies.

Once you have converted the movies, put them into iTunes. This is how you transfer movies to your iPhone.

If it sounds like a lot of work, don’t worry. There are other ways to get movies. You can download them straight from the Internet, but this is risky if you aren’t careful. P2p and torrent sites are plagued with viruses and spyware. These sites are also illegal and could get you into trouble before you even had a chance to watch any movies.

There are pay sites that offer downloads, which are good. You pay a one-time access fee that ranges up to $50. You get to choose from thousands of files and never have to pay again. It’s quite simple and easy to use. This also reduces the amount of time it takes to get a movie onto your iPhone because you skip the step of ripping the movie into a readable format. These sites have done the hard work for you.

Enjoy your new protable DVD player, I mean, iPhone. You’ll never miss another Johnny Depp/Tim Burton collaboration again while watching movies on your iPhone.Article Source: http://www.webmastertips.us/story
